At Abangah weekly book meeting at October 6, project’s report of World Bank on Poverty and Social Impact Analysis of Groundwater Over-exploitation in Mexico, presented by Mr. Behnam. At seven sections, the report, describes the situation of groundwater resources, quantitative also qualitative methodology, institutional issues and public expenditures in irrigation sector to finally be resulted the main finding and final conclusions at last section.

As the used analytical methodology at project was similar to which Abangah is using at it’s projects specially at “awareness raising and capacity building for rebalancing groundwater resources in Iran” and “Planning and directing the formation and establishment of sustainable participatory management of water resources in agriculture at Khuzestan” projects, related sections (Sections 3&4) described more in details by presenter.

It was interesting that groundwater resources challenges in Iran and Mexico are similar and so there could be valuable experiments to be shared between at near future.
