Implementation of the second phase of “capacity building for local Society’s Participation in conservation of Miandasht Wildlife Refuge and Zemen-e-Ahoo National Park” at Khorasan Shomali Province, by using the newest methods of social capacity building, leads to the participation of local societies at conservation of the environment and special critically endangered cheetah subspecies more expanded than in the past at Miandasht. This project was defined in three phases with a focus on capacity building for Participation of local communities on Asiatic cheetah conservation by national office of CACP and the Department of Environmental Protection and Abangah Company as consultant. The first and the second phases are completed successfully. In the second phase in order to implement the result of first phase, activation of participatory institutions including Dehyaries (RM) and Islamic Council of Villages around the Refuge and the groups of ranchers with grazing license considered on the agenda. Also in order to use the potential of the Basij, an agreement was signed between the Joghatay Basij Command and Regional Department of Environmental Protection. It is worth noting that in this phase “Rules set and laws of participation of local communities and framework for deposits in the field of environmental protection” were collected in the form of a report for the first time. Hopefully with the continuation of this project and the implementation of the third phase, a new vision of participation of local communities in the conservation of natural resources and the environment is opened.
