Sustainable management could not be accessible without participation of all stakeholders with determining their benefits and resources. In integrated water resources management this consideration is more important due to variety of actors (government and private sectors) and consumptions (Irrigation, industries, tap water and environment).

So as pattern projects, Iran Environment Department aimed to determine Ecosystem Management Plan on Jajrud and Kashafrud rivers (as two rivers with most important and complicated situations in Iran).

Based on Abangah’s experiences on social capacity building and actor analysis, it has been selected as supervisor of plan at Kahafrud basin (as a wetland).

Kashafrud River is a river that flows from the Hezar Masjed Mountains in Khorasan Razavi Province in northeast of Iran. After passing from the vicinity of the cities of Radkan and Chenaran and then passing north and east of the city of Mashhad, the Kashfrud joins the Harirud River at the frontier of Iran and Turkmenistan.

This project started at January 2019 and it will continue to June 2019.
